Today Henry is 5 weeks old! Despite often feeling like I have approximately 17 brain cells and I've been stuck in one giant, extremely long day-things are going well and Joe and I are falling in love with our little boy more and more each day. Henry often sleeps for 5 hours straight at night, which is excellent for his age. Mommy and Daddy are very grateful for this. In the morning he wakes up around 7:30 am and Henry and I play The Nuk Game. This is my LEAST favorite game, but Henry seems to highly enjoy it, as he wants to play it every morning. Here is how it's played: Joe gets up for work around 7:30 am Henry starts to stir and cry Brook brings Henry into bed with her, lays him down on Joe's side making sure everything is nice and flat and no pillows are near him. Brook inserts Nuk into Henry's mouth. Henry sucks Nuk and falls asleep. Approximately 10 minutes later, just after Brook has started to fall back asleep, Henry ejects the Nuk out of his mouth. Henry starts to whimper and cry. Brook wakes up. Brook reinserts Nuk into Henry's mouth. Henry sucks Nuk and falls asleep. Are we seeing the pattern here? Henry is a pro at this game and I usually surrender around 8:30 am or so. Warning: next paragraph might have too much information for some of the readers-namely my unmarried, male, audience:
One thing I am finally winning at is the Food Game. Breastfeeding was miserable for me, he'd eat for over an hour and still be screaming-his-head-off-hungry. So we opted for me to become best friends with my breast pump and give him milk in a bottle and supplement some formula when we don't have enough breastmilk. He's a BIG eater, 4 ounces every 3 hours. We haven't had to supplement for the past few days! Yea! I'm finally producing enough!!! Henry gave us his first smile on Wednesday earlier this week. Joe came home, picked him up, and started playing with him a bit and boom! big 'ol toothless grin. I missed it-so Joe repeated what he did to make him smile, and boom! another one! He also rolled over from his stomach to his back last week. I had him on the floor for tummy-time and he was so worked up and wiggling around that he flipped himself over. It was completely by chance-kids aren't supposed to be able to do that until 4 months old or so and he hasn't done it since. (I still like to think he's a complete genius though) He also has a new nickname-among the manyyyy I've given him. His new nickname is Sir Gruntsalot. He grunts at everything and nothing at all. Grunts when he's awake, grunts when he's asleep, grunts when he eats, grunts when he toots. And of course, here are some pictures of the best little man around: Joe took this picture of Henry a week ago. I find it absolutely hilarious.
This is Henry's "Food coma" look, just after he eats, nice full and satisfied! Me and my little guy at the Mankato Mall:
I love this little outfit-the hood has little ears on it!

Henry snoozin' on Momma:
I LOVE MY NUK!
And yes, I have a trillion more, but I'll resist... |
